Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register on the Do Not Call list?
Open DNC Guard and tap "Registry" in the bottom nav. The app walks you through registering on the national FTC list (donotcall.gov) and your state's registry with one-tap links. You must register from the phone number you want protected. Takes about 5 minutes total.
Why do I have to wait 31 days before filing complaints?
Federal law gives telemarketers 31 days to update their lists after you register. After that, any telemarketing call is a violation. Note: robocalls and calls without consent are illegal immediately β€” no waiting period.
How do I log a violation call?
Tap the "+" button on the Calls screen. Enter the phone number, caller name, date, time, and call type. Tap Save. The call is logged and ready to file complaints against.
How do I actually collect the $500 (or up to $5,000 in Missouri)?
After filing your complaints, tap "Small Claims" on any violation. DNC Guard generates a pre-filled civil complaint for your state's small claims court. File it at your local courthouse (fee is $15–$30). No attorney required. Most cases settle before the hearing date.
Why does Missouri allow up to $5,000?
Missouri's No-Call law (Mo. Rev. Stat. Β§ 407.1098) has significantly higher damages than most states. This makes Missouri one of the strongest consumer protection states in the country for DNC violations.
How do I cancel my subscription?
iPhone: Settings β†’ Your Name β†’ Subscriptions β†’ DNC Guard β†’ Cancel. Android: Google Play β†’ Profile β†’ Payments & Subscriptions β†’ DNC Guard β†’ Cancel. You keep access until the end of your billing period.
Is it legal to record calls in my state?
One-party consent (you can record): NJ, IL, IN, OH, MO. All-party consent required (must tell them): CA, FL, PA, TX. DNC Guard shows your state's recording law in the States tab. When in doubt consult a local attorney.
The DNC website says I've exceeded online requests β€” is that my app?
No β€” DNC Guard never automatically contacts any government website. The app only opens government sites when you manually tap a button. The FTC limits how many times you can verify a number online per day. Call 1-888-382-1222 from your registered number to verify instead β€” it's instant and has no limit.
